Another good one featuring clips from Bill Hicks, David Cross, and George Carlin. Hick and Cross on Christians, and Carlin on Religion.

It's mind boggling how so many humans throughout history have been duped by religious fairy-tales. Nothing has held the world back more than religion. With the internet, I give it two more decades before religious superstition goes the way of the typewriter.

Religion (especially Christianity) is a course study in narcissism. Nowhere else can you find such a concentration of like minded bores convinced their own shit doesn't stink.

Religion will likely continue to influence human behavior for some time by continuing on its two primary missions: 1) The promise of something better after this life in return for blind obedience to irrational, totalitarian, arcane and inane rules; and, 2) Filling the current voids in scientific knowledge with nonsense and magical explanations without any evidence whatsoever.   As a former devout Catholic for 40+ years, I now understand that religion is a preposterous and dangerous set of concepts and beliefs. It was difficult for me to make the transition away from religion, but I had no choice given the overwhelmingly compelling lack of evidence of any gods.   I absolutely respect the right of every individual to profess and follow the religion of his or her choosing, as long as those beliefs do not interfere with the rights of others. However, I do not respect the actual religious beliefs because they are all ludicrous, grounded in fantasy and used to great effect to create suffering.
