from Always Yes. Chief Redbird was an entertainer / hillbilly violin player in Detroit in the 40s and 50s. When he died, his bandmate became caretaker of his violin. Years later, that bandmate, whose daughter was Michael's girlfriend, gave Michael the violin as a gift on his 21st birthday -- a passing of the torch between musicians. One of the great (true) story songs. Tyson Leonard plays violin on this track, which contains one of my favorite lyrics: "He was touched when he was born with the amber blood of the burgundy maple tree / Anointed by the autumn dance when the trees turned gold in 1933." find it on iTunes at https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/alw...
