"AIA New York State is a state chapter within a single state Region. Day after day their chapter exhibits the right way to run an advocacy program. Keenly aware of their member's plight in these tough economic times and faced with subsequent budget limitations, they continue to provide their membership with a well-orchestrated series of government affairs programming and events yielding great success.
Among their list of accomplishment include the following: • An Advocacy page on their website; • A Lobby Day that is not viewed as a singular event but instead is set up as ongoing member outreach and education that culminates in an opportunity to see lawmakers in action and discuss with them one on one the issues affecting the members of New York State; • A multi-year, collaborative endeavor to provide members with a series of conferences on Public Project Procurement in the 21st Century involving the NY Bar Association and the Albany Law School. This effort brings industry experts together to explore the efficacy of Alternate Project Delivery Project Procurement and Delivery Systems; • Increased attendance at PAC events was the result conscientious Government Affairs efforts; • Managed to successfully pass bills that would favorably affect members and also kill bills that would adversely affect members."
