Learn how to replace the fill valve for the ice maker on your refrigerator. I am working on a Whirlpool refrigerator that has only an ice maker, no water in the door so the valve is a single coil fill valve.

If you are hearing a lot of noise during the fill cycle, the valve may not be opening wide enough to allow water to flow properly, this could create a chatter or screaming type of noise. The valve would need to be replaced.
Make sure the supply line to the fill valve is not crimped, this would also make the
ice become hollow and be a shell of an ice cube.
The water that fills the ice mold is timed so if it does not get enough water during this timed cycle it will not make proper size ice cubes.

While you have your refrigerator pulled away from the wall, make sure to clean the coil area and any dust that accumulates around the air intakes to help make your appliance run properly. This could save you from unwanted problems in the future.
