My client, a beautiful little 15 month old boy named Parker, was swimming with his family in Pyramid Lake last Sunday, when he suffered a violent reaction to the toxic blue-green algae, and went in to respiratory distress. More detailed article here: https://www.napolinlaw.com/legal-news...

Pyramid Lake is a reservoir near the 15 Freeway in Castaic, California. It is a public lake with swimming, boating and a recreation area , including a beach.

On July 6, 2017, tests revealed unsafe levels of microcystin, a dangerous blue-green algae toxin. The swimming area was closed, and the rest of the lake was issued a "caution" advisory, warning boaters of the dangerously high levels of the toxic allergy. That closure was lifted soon after, and since then, the authorities have failed to post any signs warning swimmers and boaters of the dangers associated with the water.

There were no signs posted last weekend at the lake according to Parker's parents, so the victim and his family entered the water with no idea of the danger that awaited them. Within 20 minutes, the child was in distress and transported to the hospital by ambulance. He was in respiratory distress. He was having trouble breathing, his lips turned blue, and it was a serious life- threatening situation. Miraculously, his parents had children’s Benadryl on hand, and immediately administered it, which saved his life.

The public has a right to know when a dangerous condition exists in a public lake, and the failure to warn swimmers is outrageous, says California Personal Injury Attorney Alexander D. Napolin https://www.napolinlaw.com/. It is shocking that the Department of Water Resources knows of this extremely dangerous condition yet is not adequately warning recreational swimmers.

Parkers family wants the public to know about this danger, and has advised the appropriate governmental departments of Parker’s horrible medical emergency, and they have asked the Government to post warning signs so that no other children are effected by the dangerous levels of toxic organisms that are still living in Pyramid Lake.
