Blocked by parked vehicles on the left I lined myself up to pass the bus on the right. However, I knew there was an island. When I got there I could also see there was an awkwardly parked car and realised that oncoming traffic would now need to slalom around it and the island. In that traffic I see a bus coming, still not the right time to go. As I see the final car approaching I can also see the pedestrian light behind has turned red, so now I know there are no more vehicles coming. Sure, a slightly longer wait that I would have liked but just about the right level of excitement.

Ah that's harsh! ;) No, I'm prepared to assume they'd been called to an incident nearby.

Badly parked police car forcing heavy traffic to use the hatched road markings? Arrogance, indifference or corruption? It's a thin (blue) line (in the queue at the takeaway) ;-)

Thanks!

No idea. However this is just next to the entrance to Woodgrange Park railway station, perhaps they'd been called to attend something there...?

Sometimes they need to get out of the car in a hurry.

Yes that could have happened too. That was a chance I took when I finally decided to go though.

I forgot coppers can do/park where they want!

good thing you decided not to squeeze between the bus and the island. that bus could have started to move and you would've been squashed
