The year was AD 711 when Tariq ibn-Ziyad's army crossed the Strait of Gibraltar to Spain and brought with them the Islamic religion, grandiose architecture and a soup of stale bread, olive oil, water and garlic that would eventually become a signature of Andalusian cuisine and famous the world over.

We all need a little inspiration. Be it in preparing a leisurely breakfast or an immovable feast, it's important to remember - the journey is half the picnic.
