The Mary Potter Humanitarian Award honors an individual whose personal and professional accomplishments embody the ideals, vision and mission of Venerable Mary Potter. The award is a testament to compassion, commitment and the gift of empowerment.

This year's Mary Potter Humanitarian Award honoree is Thomas Taff, founder of the Bucks for Burn Camp, a fundraiser to benefit the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance's, "Camp I am Me." A camp that provides burn victims a chance to repair their self esteem and have fun without being teased or victimized. The one-week camp in Lake County has benefited from Bucks for Burn since 1998 when Taff first initiated the fundraiser.
