Violin Sonatas by Francesco Maria Veracini (1690-1768), an Italian composer and violinist, perhaps best known for his sets of violin sonatas. Veracini has been an interesting and a little bit excentric artist who nearly killed himself by jumping from a window. His violin technique has been superb - he influenced both, Vivaldi and Tartini. Italian Baroque violonist Riccardo Minasi has recorded a selection of Veracini's Sonatas for Violin and Basso Continuo. Two of them are first recordings. The CD has been released on Deutsche Harmonia Mundi.
