August 1, 2012: Paula Coughlin-Puopolo, Tailhook whistleblower, returns to DC to demand Rep. Buck McKeon and the House Armed Services Committee open a full Congressional investigation into the Lackland Air Force Base sexual assault scandal.

Protect Our Defenders and four other veterans who survived unpunished sexual assault -- Brian Lewis, Jennifer Norris, Jessica Hinves, and Jenny McClendon -- in the military hold a press conference and deliver 10,000 petitions asking Congress for an open investigation.

Protect Our Defenders honors, supports, and gives voice to the brave men and women in uniform who have been raped or sexually assaulted by fellow service members. We seek to fix the military training, investigation and adjudication systems related to sexual violence, systems that often re-victimize survivors by blaming them while failing to prosecute perpetrators.
