On January 3, 2017 the Cook County Clerk's Office handed out the first marriage license of the year. The recipients where Charlotte Passley and Darnell Lane, Jr. who arrived at the Cook County Clerk’s Bureau of Vital Records early Tuesday morning. They left their Lawndale home with the hope that they would become Cook County's first couple of 2017. To their surprise they were issued Cook County’s first marriage license of 2017.
As is tradition, the Clerk’s office showered the newlyweds with a slew of prizes donated by local Chicago businesses. This year’s gifts include a complimentary weekend for two at the Loews Chicago Hotel, a dinner for two at Michael Jordan’s Steak House, four VIP passes to the iO Improv Theatre, an Edible Arrangement, a gift card to Eli’s Cheesecake and a beautiful white bouquet and boutonniere from LaSalle Flowers.
