Grafton Hunt supporters Christopher Clewes and Ben Wilkinson were due to appear in court charged with 'Use threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour to cause harassment/alarm/distress,' until the case was dropped just two weeks before the trial was due to take place. Subsequently the Monitors received a personal apology from the Acting Chief Prosecutor of East Midland CPS for mistakes made by them, who said that their "handling of the case did not meet the high standards which we aspire to, and I accept that you have been let down by the Criminal Justice System."
