The Whaley House is located in Old Town San Diego, California. On August 22, 1857 The Whaleys moved into this house. Thomas Whaley Jr. died on January 29, 1858 at 18 months from Scarlet Fever. After the death of Thomas and Anna's baby and the fire of their wooden store, they decided to move to San Francisco. On October 14, 1862, Violet Eloise was born. Violet later married, but had a divorce. She suffered from depression after that and eventually commited suicide. On December 14, 1890, Thomas died from bad health. Anna died on February 24, 1913 at 80. The Whaley House sat empty and vacant until Frances Whaley took on restoration of the building in 1909. He turned it into a historical tourist attraction and also entertained visitors with his guitar. The children of Thomas and Anna Whaley continued to live in the house, and all died in it, including Thomas Jr., Violet, Anna, Francis, George and Corinne Lillian Whaley.
