This is the "choral" part of the "Choral Fantasy" by Beethoven. Sung by a huge Russian choir (including a boys choir) with orchestra conducted by Vladimir Fedoseyev in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. This was the finale of a June 22 concert commemorating the Russian victory over the German fascists in WWII. I remember that, ironically, the soloist was German pianist, Peter Roesel, (a gesture, I suppose). Note the incredible acoustics experienced from my spot in the balcony. I also remember that Alexander Solzhinitsyn was in the audience.
