J E T is a computer generated experimental video short/animation. It is part of a series of videos exploring image manipulation and digital deconstruction/reconstruction.
My works generally have no "plot" or storyline. The cyclical morphing images and the "process" ARE the subject of the works. This video has a very interesting origin! It was created from a compilation of images created using a very cool but very odd interactive program posted on an obscure geeky Japanese website featuring all interactive screen programs or "games" designed to respond to cursor movements. I found one that would gradually fill the screen with b&w half tone layers of pixilized forms as I moved my mouse/cursor. It seemed like a digital version of the "Etch-a-Sketch" kids' game from the 1960's! So, Instead of settling for a short curiosity visit, I decided to use it to create drawings I call "Web-Draws" where I would "save" the ongoing progress of the web drawing with frequent progressive screen shots, "saving" image after image after image...eventually enough to create the amount of frames needed for a short 2D sort of stop-action animation. After compiling all the frames and then converting them into a QuickTime movie, I subsequently used that foundation to add adjustments, tweaks. Effects and speed changes...layer upon layer until, after various incarnations, J E T was born! Since the image origin was somewhat deep and obscure in the Internet, I thought I would do the same with the music search...find some new experimental electronic music from Russia! I was curious about what was happening in the electronic music world over there. I have used electronic music for other videos, mostly from Berlin, which is constructed in a similar fashion musically to my visual video process...one of layers, cycles and often a "noire" or "dark ambient". I heard the sound of Antropsy and really liked the feel of it....even though it was too long to use in its entirety...(please check it out - it is fantastic!) No offense intended! So...here it is...J E T...going out into the world! Hope you all enjoy it as much as I do!
