Stickers, GIFs and other rich content are available through soft keyboards in Android 7.1 and also in revision 25.0.0 of the v13 Support Library. The 7.1 SDK includes the Commit Content API, which provides a universal way to send images and other rich content from an IME and receive them in a text editor in an app. With this API, you can build messaging apps that accept rich content from any keyboard, as well as, keyboards that can send rich content to any app.
