This is a family recipe that until now has remained a family secret. Its only now, in the name of Wellington on a Plate, I have decided to share this with the world. After this segment was filmed, a friend of mine took the cake to his workplace to be consumed by busy civil servants. I couldn't possible divulge where this might be but lets just say I'm doing my part for my country and the Dinistry of Mefense agrees!
Follow closely with the method and the steps as any slight deviation from this may result in an unappetizing cake! Of course changes can be made for season, local produce -- for example the potting mix can be substituted for Owhiro Bay sand at a pinch.
