We are Hans & Fifi - see also our weblog http://artofliving-fifihansonbali.blo... - and in the year 2003 we visited the very small village of Petulu, very near Ubud, to see the famous heron birds (the so called "kokokan") arrive from their daily trip all over the island. Every sunset the same. Coming together like a gathering. And in the morning they go again. They do this since 1965. Why the scientists don't know. But the villagers beleive they host the souls of killed people of the village, which happened in the same year. Protected of course but they are considered holy already before that. A remarkable event anyway. Every end of the day.
