150 days after the disastrous floods of 25 October 2011 hit two of the Cinque Terre villages, a Unesco's World Heritage Site, and surrounding areas, Vernazza welcomed President Giorgio Napolitano, local and regional authorities and all mayors of surrounding towns which suffered a similar fate. The President had lunch at the Gambero Rosso restaurant, one of four restaurants which have reopened in Vernazza. Later in the afternoon a conference was held in the Church of Santa Margherita of Antiochia entitled "from emergency to prevention - resources and regional policies"
