I was lead editor of episode 1.

This is a rough cut -- you will never see this anywhere else. The final broadcast version looked different than this. Hope you enjoy.

Those of you editing trend spotters... we created a few new looks for this show; I've seen the fast - normal - fast motion everywhere now, but I have yet to see much of the "ani-matte" effects -- the effects where part of the image behind an interviewed person drops off and then the person fades out....

The effect is also repeated with cars, buses and other moving objects.

I think the reason other editors didn't "borrow" this effect is that it isn't obvious how to do it. E-mail me if you're an AVID editor and I'll tell you. (It would be much harder in FCP).
