Goldwater didn't hate, or dislike blacks....he just didn't like the federal government telling a store owner what he/she should do, cater to, or serve.  He was a store owner in Arizona, and served blacks (what few there were back then in AZ).  If he was so wrong, then why do we have a generational dependency of welfare, food stamps, and public housing?  Where's the great promise of LBJ's cavalcade of social programs?

Goldwater sadly did this for winning the majority, but people who actually know the true fundamentals of Goldwater knows he is truly one for individual freedoms, liberties, and rights, before he died he told the Republican party he does not want to be apart of their history, as now they are a party run by the religious right and fundamentalist rather than secular conservative values, I'm not even conservative and I respect the guy

LBJ's history on civil rights and his comments about negroes is enough to realize he was pure evil.

As much as I hate racism and racists who deny service to other people, Goldwater was correct on this issue. Freedom of association means freedom to be a jerk, or at least perceived to be a jerk. The ends don't justify the means. At least that's what I was told as a kid.

All of these people calling Goldwater a racist and yet they're too ignorant to understand why he did.
