This is my step by step HTML tutorial for beginners. It is roughly based on many other HTML tutorials on YouTube. In this tutorial I will show you how to make an HTML web page from scratch by typing HTML code into a text editor such as Notepad, TextWrangler, Eclipse etc. Then simply open it in your web browser to preview the results.

I've recorded it during my practice for making video tutorials. It may not be ideal but I still decided to post it here.

Making a webpage in HTML is relatively simple. Open Notepad.exe on Windows, or another text editor, and type in the basic structure of an HTML (Hypertext Mark-up Language) web page.

Markup languages such as HTML define a structure of something, rather than present code line by line like JavaScript, Java or C++. In this case the structure is of a website layout.

HTML web page structure is determined by HTML elements, or tags. A tag simply defines an HTML element.

In this tutorial you will learn the basic HTML tags such as head, title, body, h1 and p. And then later we will move on to more advanced subjects.

This HTML lesson, in particular, was greatly inspired by "Learn HTML in 12 minutes", an HTML tutorial I stumbled across on YouTube. I thought the presentation was dense and accessible. Mine is probably not as great, but I thought I needed something like this on my channel, too.

My hope is that this video helps someone who is probably a beginner, and just starting to learn HTML. Once we get the basics behind our back, we can move on to other tutorials with ultimate goal of one day figuring out how to make web and even mobile apps that run on Android, iPhone or iPad.

"Learn CSS" is my next tutorial in the series:
