ASP's recent report, "The Global Security Defense Index on Climate Change," found that climate change is increasingly seen as a national security threat by military establishments around the world.

This is a conversation with Major General Muniruzzaman (Ret.), and ASP's CEO Brigadier General Stephen Cheney, USMC (Ret.), both of whom are members of the Global Military Advisory Council on Climate Change (GMACCC), with General Muniruzzaman as Chairman.

Major General Muniruzzaman is a former Senior Officer of the Bangladesh Army and President of the Bangladesh Institute of Peace and Security Studies (BIPSS). BIPSS is a non-party, non-profit think-tank focused on peace and security in South Asia.

Bangladesh is ground zero for the security implications of climate change. A sea level rise of only 45 cm would cause the loss of 11% of the country's land mass, forcing 5.5 million people to relocate. General Muniruzzaman has forcefully advocated for ways to reduce the security impacts of a changing climate around the world.
