Make sure caption in bottom right is turned on - Translated version of: "khodaya khob gosh kon agar khabidi bidar sho daran sedat mikona" - "God, listen well, if you are asleep please wake up, they are calling your name..."
The original video was recorded by a young woman in Tehran the night after the brutal government crackdown on Iranian demonstrators which occurred June 20th 2009. In a day of violence and brutality, many were injured and killed, including Neda Agha-Soltan, a 26 year old philosophy student. The exact number of other dead, injured, and arrested is still unknown. This video follows two other "poems" recorded by this woman, each to the nighttime background sound of people chanting Allah-o-akbar from their rooftops. One such video was recorded the very night before, June 19th, when the violence seemed inevitable but was still unknown: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKUZuv...
The English subtitles are available as a caption file to this video. Special thanks to the many Farsi speakers who helped to translate it, it is the combined effort of at least a dozen people.
