Peer-Assisted Learning Strategies for reading (PALS) complements the existing reading curriculum by providing research-validated learning strategies through reciprocal peer tutoring.

The second activity in each PALS session, Paragraph Shrinking, is designed to improve comprehension. More specifically, the activity will help students to monitor their own comprehension and focus on the main idea of each paragraph, pay attention to important details, and elaborate on content.

In this video, a student pair participates in the Paragraph Shrinking activity. For the sake of time, the movie highlights only one student reading and answering the Prediction Relay questions.
