A female Haptosquilla banggai from Sulawesi resides in a tight fitting cavity. For the male to mate with her, she must come part way out of the cavity exposing her genital openings between her first pair of walking legs. If she does, the male turns her slightly towards him, mountis and inserts his pair of gonopods (penises) and ejaculates. Right after copulation, the female turns nasty driving the male away least he try to take her cavity.
