Ephram's "Tragic Flaw" narration and probably one of the best quotes from the show. From Season 2, Episode 4. Background music provided by Blake Neely.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. I'm not sure who the first person was who said that. Probably Shakespeare. Or maybe Sting. But at the moment, it's the sentence that best explains my tragic flaw: my inability to change.

I don't think I'm alone in this. The more I get to know other people, the more I realize it's kind of everyone's flaw. Staying exactly the same for as long as possible, standing perfectly still... It feels better somehow. And if you are suffering, at least the pain is familiar. Because if you took that leap of faith, went outside the box, did something unexpected... Who knows what other pain might be waiting out there. Chances are it could be even worse.

So you maintain the status quo. Choose the road already traveled and it doesn't seem that bad. Not as far as flaws go. You're not a drug addict. You're not killing anyone...Except maybe yourself a little.

When we finally do change, I don't think it happens like an earthquake or an explosion, where all of a sudden we're like this different person. I think it's smaller than that. The kind of thing most people wouldn't even notice unless they looked at us really, really close. Which, thank God, they never do. But you notice it. Inside you that change feels like a world of difference. And you hope this is it. This is the person you get to be forever...that you'll never have to change again.

In my opinion, this was probably one of the better shows that's been around. And personally, I'm glad they stopped it where they did. A lot of shows now "jump the shark" so to speak and become ruined. This one, ended on a good note. Everything came together in the end. It's a nice ending...😏
I was only 15 or maybe 16 when I first watched the series ... I´m 25 now and I´m getting all the chapters again in dvd to live the Everwood experience all over again, but from a different angle, some years have passed ... The greatest thing this series has is the fact that I could actually give the first season to a very dear girl-friend of mine and it actually meant SOMETHING for that person ... I also watch this with my family every day, 6 years after it ended.
This was SUCH a good show, I loved it! In a way it's like no other show. Loved the setting in the mountains. Love this quote, it's me. So sad they only made 4 seasons but I think I'll watch them all again this winter....somehow suits fall/winter time :)
Everwood is, always will be an incredible, perfect, just a brilliant, humane television series! I love and miss this series greatly! Thanks for the upload. Beautiful quote!
Best written series ever!
Yet when your in it; you don't. You only miss something when it's gone.
Look at that relic of the past 0:22. I only vaguely remember encyclopedias in the back of the classroom before computers came around in the late 90's.

Except that wasn't Amy's tragic flaw. Hers was trying to control everyone and everything except she couldn't control herself because she loved Ephram and she resented him for it. But he persevered and she finally defeated the demons of her past and gave herself completely to him.
This was a really good scene. I love Ephram and how good he is at handling crises (you know he is during times like these; where he rationalizes his thoughts and the actions of others). That was a brave and touching moment when Andy didn't wear his ring... I can't even begin to imagine how horrible things like that are for people.

Fantastic part! This show changed a lot my life, Personally I thought that the 21 episode of the 3rd Season 'On The Places You'll Go' was emotionly the heaviest...
