A display of three paintings at Tate Britain to celebrate the 80th birthday of Gillian Ayres. 'Ayres remains committed to abstraction and the self-sufficiency of the painted image. One of her overriding concerns is for the act of painting to be a "condensation of sensation to perception; a creative experience for both the maker and the viewer".'
