Halil Savda is a human rights defender who in the past has been repeatedly prosecuted for his refusal to perform military service in Turkey. Halil Savda is also a conscientious objector. He has been declared "unfit" for military service and is speaking out in support of other conscientious objectors, for which he faces an ongoing risk of imprisonment. If he is sent to prison for freely expressing his support for conscientious objectors, Amnesty International will consider him a prisoner of conscience, and will demand his immediate and unconditional release.
