Atlanta locksmith Kevin Wilson reveals yet another locksmith scam and myth about getting locked out of your car. When you lock yourself out of your car ALWAYS make sure that you get a total price upfront from the locksmtih before you have him come out. The big scam these days is they'll advertise all over Google and the phonebook with very low prices. They will advertise for $15,$25 and $35 to show up plus labor. The scam is the plus labor. Don't fall for this scam.
A legitimate locksmith will always know exactly what it takes to unlock your car by the make, model and year and by how far he has to travel to get to where you are. A legitimate and honest locksmith gives you an exact and total price upfront before coming out.
Many dishonest locksmiths will say they can't tell you the price until they come out and see your car. This is a major scam. What they are trying to do is to get you to agree to having them show up.
Once on the scene is when the real show starts. The scammer locksmith will start talking major trash about your car being too old, too new, too big, too small, too high tech, too low tech, too complicated and a multitude of other stories just so that they can justify the new high price they are about to quote you. The price for opening then car starts to climb as the begin to work on your car. After opening your car the scam artist locksmith will hold your keys until you pay him in cash the new high price. They will even accept Debit Card but never credit card. Why you may ask only debit? Because debit cannot be disputed. Credit card charges can be disputed. They will even make up stories about their CC machine not working just so that they can shake you down for cash.

They only want you to agree allow them to show up so that they can pressure you into paying their high and outrageous prices. Please don't fall for this scam. Do your research. Call an honest locksmith, preferrable one who has video and is showing his face. This is the only way to really make sure that he is an honest and legit locksmith. Scam locksmith won't make videos of their faces because the can't. They are always running from the law and are afraid to show their face. Please do your research and make the right decision when choosing an Atlanta locksmith.
