Extraction of keruing(oleoresin-oil) from the keruing tree(Dipterocarpus crinitus) as demonstrated by Encik Ajak during our track to the Abai waterfall from our lodge in Nusa Holiday Resort in Taman Negara, Pahang, Malaysia. The tree shown has been extracted continuously by aleast 2 generations of the same Jakun(natives of Malaysia) family. There are more than 3000 keruing trees in this area. It is used as an additive in wood varnish, medicinally for treating wounds or skin infection, as sealent for wooden boat and also as fuel for oil-lamps by the natives
