Prof. George is McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence and Founder and Director of the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions at Princeton University. Professor George is a graduate of Swarthmore College and Harvard Law School. He has a master's degree in theology from Harvard and a doctorate in philosophy of law from Oxford University.

Professor George is the author of many books, including Making Men Moral: Civil Liberties and Public Morality (1993), In Defense of Natural Law (1999), The Meaning of Marriage (2005) and his latest book What is Marriage? A Man and Woman: A Defense (2012), as well as being a frequent contributor in the law reviews of Harvard, Yale, Columbia and the University of Chicago and in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post.

He is currently a member of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom.
