First attempt to raise fry to adulthood.
I house some adult Zebra Danio in my other tanks, and have found fry pretty much every time I've siphoned the gravel in the 2 months since. I had a 2.5 sitting empty, so I decided to give a few of the tykes a chance.
Began tank August 30, 2012
A little less than 20, 1-3 week old Zebra Danio (danio rerio) 2.5 gal (for now), fed Hikari First Bites three times a day. Lit with compact fluorescent bulb. Includes airstone for a bit of current and to oxygenate the water. Hornwort, Java moss, and oak leaves for infusoria (microorganisms fry like to eat). Hornwort and Java moss are also good ammonia sinks and oxygenate the water and give the fry places to hide, while the oak leaves release helpful tannins into the water (very small amounts), and just plain look nice.
Holds at about 80*F 50% water change every other day. 100% on sixth day. Medium hardness, ~80 ppm alkalinity, ~7 PH.
