I don't know about you but seeing as the weather in England has been a bit dismal I'm in the mood for some colourful makeup :) It's been brought to my attention that in America the word "Gypsy" is considered offensive, in England (note I said England NOT Europe) this term is not considered offensive at all.

Example: In America the word "rubber" means a condom. In England it means an eraser, word meanings vary hugely from county to country hence the misunderstanding.

Need more examples?:

(As shown above in the UK the word is clearly not offensive in the UK as it is used by the Gypsy council)

I also added the word (Romani)" to the title so that any American subscribers who are not aware of the different word usages in other countries do not misunderstand me.

Listen, I understand what you're saying. The term is inoffensive in your country. But even if you believe it to be inoffensive, you should at least know that it's inaccurate. Europeans gave them the name because they thought the Romani had come from Egypt when, in fact, they are descended from northern India. You could at least recognize that you're using a word that, even if in YOUR country isn't insulting, is still incorrect. You seem like a nice person, I'm sure you're not purposely trying to insult an entire race.

Am I the only one who didn't know that "Gypsy" was an offensive thing to say? I've always thought Gypsies were pretty awesome, so I never saw any reason why being called one could be a bad thing....

*sigh* This is a look INSPIRED by the Romani gypsy people. Klaire is not trying to say that every Irish, Indian, American or wherever-they're-from gypsy looks like this. It's just a gorgeous, colourful look inspired by a rich and exotic culture.

Not those exact shows, but ones like them, yes. If you're not an active member of some kind of Social Justice blog or just have an apathy to certain things you could get confused, and I suppose this is what happened to a lot of people.

I rewatch your videos all the time and I'm still always amazed at how much skill you have. Your voice is so nice and calming as well. I love everything about your videos all around. ♡

not all English people like tea! (I think, I haven't many fellow English folk that don't like tea) :P

Why is everyone having cultural debates in the comments? Everyone knows what a Gypsy looks like, just calm down, it's not offensive. This look is beautiful, why can't people just stop making a war out of everything? :|
