Meghan Vogel (West Liberty Salem HS) had just won the mile (1600m) in 4:58 to become the State Champion for that event. Minutes later, while running the 2 mile (3200m) race, she fell behind and when she saw Arden McMath (Arlington High School) struggle and fall to the track, she ran up to her, picked her up and carried her to the finish line.

Although Ohio High School Athletic Association rules would normally disqualify a runner for receiving assistance, in this instance, the OHSAA chose not to disqualify either runner.

Included in the video is McMath struggling, Vogel picking her up and a post-race interview with Vogel.
