Class of 2011 small forward Devin Langford said Sunday he will officially commit to Illinois around noon on Monday afternoon.

Langford, a 6-foot-5 forward, was on Illinois' campus over the weekend as his Lee High School team traveled from Alabama to play in the Shootout at the Hall in Champaign, Ill. His team lost to Orr and future Illinois teammate Mycheal Henry, but the trip solidified his commitment to the Illini.

Langford, the 48th ranked small forward by ESPN, also considered Alabama.

"I just think it's a good place for me," said Langford, who had nine points, 13 rebounds and three blocks at Assembly Hall on Saturday. "I fit in really good. I had it in my mind that this was the place I wanted to go to. I just feel now is a good time."

Langford said he hadn't told Illinois coaches of his decision yet, but believed his high school coach had informed Bruce Weber.

Langford will be Weber's fifth Class of 2011 commitment, but the first out-of-state one. Henry, a 6-6 swingman, Mount Carmel point guard Tracy Abrams, St. Ignatius center Nnanna Egwu and De La Salle forward Mike Shaw all attend schools in Chicago.

Langford knew Henry a bit, but none of Illinois' other recruits. He felt his game would click in Weber's system no matter who he played with.

"I feel like I can make plays and just be a team player," Langford said. "I see myself penetrating and getting other people open. I'm not just looking for my shot. Just making plays and winning.

"I feel like we're going to bond with the players that are already there, and we'll have a pretty good [team]. We could possibly win a national championship."

Langford will be able to sign his letter of intent to Illinois beginning on April 13, 2011.
