Intel engineers plan to implant chip into the human brain to allow mind-remote-control for computers. The chip is being researched at the Intel Research Lab, Pittsburgh, USA.
a scientist involved in the project, Dean Pomerleau said that the chip will be finished soon although not entirely perfect. It would work based on brain stimulus technology called FMRI (Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging).
In theory, when a person thinks of the same word or image, it activates the same parts of the brain. Pomerleau and his team are using the FMRI technology to scan the brains of volunteers to determine the universal orders.
Pomerleau said that currently Intel had been able to create a headset that could utilize the brain waves to command a computer. The next step would be to create a chip that could be planted into the brain.
