On 9 Sep 2011 Palestinians heard hammering on their land. Mohammad Abu Haikal went to investigate and found 5 Jewish colonist boys building a tree house in his ancient olive tree. He asked the Isralei soldiers on duty there to remove the trespadssers from his land. They laughed and refused. He called the Israeli police, the DCL and the israeli Civil Administration. When the police eventually arrived they asked the children to leave. They refused and the soldiers refused to co-operate with the police. Once the children realised they had the upper hand they brought more friends and the situation escalated. They mocked the police and danced on the military post. It took 3 hours to finally remove the children and they caused a lot of damage to the tree and to various crops growing on the land. They threw olives and spat at Palestinians.
This kind of problem is a weekly occurence for the Abu Haikal family. Settler adults teach their children to make this kind of provocation because they know that Israeli soldiers will not dare to touch them and police will be reluctant to intervene. They are too young to be arrested no matter what they do. Tel Rumeida is in Hebron, Palestine. Jewish colonists moved in across the road in 1984 and have caused endless problems ever since. They want to drive the Palestinians away and steal their land.
