Goofing around a bit in this new WIP version of my racing game. It's a couple of weeks into development and I'm currently working on simulating the engine and transmission. Not happy with it quite yet, but I'm pretty sure I'll be able to sort it out eventually.
The thing I'm most pleased with at this point is the engine sound (which wasn't really an early priority in the first place). It's synthesized in realtime using a very short "pop" sample representing one cylinder firing, and that's repeated for all cylinders with some offset to account for variations in exhaust geometry and finally there's some nice distortion at the end to make it growl.
