Here is a video I took of what our Samsung LCD TV set has been doing to us lately after owning it just under two years. Usually, the problem will go away after the TV "warms up" and is on for a while, and almost always occurs now when we first turn on the TV after it has been off for a while.
What is not shown in the video is that sometimes we also see a randomly shaped black blob that sorta floats or moves across the picture. It is all pretty weird and certainly doesn't look like the kinda problem that just "goes away". In fact, the problem is getting more and more frequent as the days go by.
This problem occurs across all sources, so it is NOT source related. It is the TV itself.
Called Samsung support and they offer no support or assistance in resolving the problem except to have a local TV repair guy call to give an estimate on repair costs. (PS.. I even tried calmly letting the rep know I would turn from a Samsung fan to never purchasing a Samsung product again and it did NOT help the cause, .. worth a try tho, right? ...lol)
This TV was purchased new for about $1,100 at the time on Amazon.com in February of 2009. (almost two years ago at this time). One year warranty. I think this same model of TV with the "touch of red" and all still goes for about $800 new at most locations.
Anyhow, I will post any new information I get. I plan on either attempting repair myself (if the estimate is too high) or having it fixed from the local repair guy. I will definitely post what exactly was my problem when it is fixed to assist any body else who experiences this same issue.
*** MAJOR UPDATE! *** (Dec 5, 2011) This TV has gotten progressively worse since I first posted this video. I tried multiple times to get any kind of support/discount on new tv by calling Samsung customer support w/ no success. Recently I simply submitted a ticket here (even tho 2 yrs past warranty) and Samsung called back 2 days later and offered me a BRAND NEW model LCD for $200. Good deal to get rid of this defective tv for a brand new one! Here's the link: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/ser...
