The Timber Hitch is used to attach a rope to a cylindrical object, such as a log. It's a great knot, super easy and quick to tie, secure under tension, and easily untied even after heavy loading. I've used it around the house to haul in a pile of 2x4's, to bundle some brush or to wrap a trunk of a stump to be ripped out. From an early age, every cub scout, Webelo and Boy Scout will learn the basic knots that will serve them for life.
