http://www.ritareys.eu Rita Reys & Metropole Orchestra performing One Less Bell To Answer, one of Burt Bacharach & Hal David's finest compositions, originally written for Keely Smith in 1967. The song was much recorded at the beginning of the 70's, for example also by Barbra Streisand, Dionne Warwick and Shirley Bassey. Rita recorded the song in 1971 for her album Rita Reys Sings Burt Bacharach, with the orchestra arranged and conducted by Rogier van Otterloo. On the album she also performs other well known Bacharach tunes, like Alfie, Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head, Do You Know The Way To San José and Make It Easy On Yourself.
Burt Bacharach, who knew Rita already from the time they both were working in Germany during the 50's, wrote to her: "I love what I heard on the record. So happy to hear you again!" The album won her an Edison Award and was certified Gold only a few months after its release.
Broadcast 10 February 2012 on Nederland 2 by Omroep Max. Orchestra conducted by Arjan Tien. In this show artists like Rita, Louis van Dijk and Toots Thielemans payed hommage to Rogier van Otterloo, who died 25 earlier in 1988.
