In the Summer and Fall of 2011, as part of an initiative called "Cities, Services, and Funding: Broader Thinking, Better Solutions," the League of Minnesota Cities held Community Conversations with groups of residents in 12 cities to discuss the city services and how those services should be funded going forward. All told, nearly 740 Minnesotans representing a broad spectrum of ages, ethnicities, and income levels provided ideas and identified primary considerations that local and state officials should keep in mind when making tough decisions about city budget priorities. The Community Conversations were funded, in part, by the Bush Foundation's InCommons project. Findings will be published in a magazine-style report in April of 2012.
