Strictly speaking, takate-kote refers to a more demanding version where the arms are crossed upwards in an X-shape. However, many use the term in a more general sense for parallel arm versions. Gote is a suitable term for all versions. Of course, if you say box-tie, you are unlikely to be told you are wrong ;-)
