How to safely trim your beard is an important skill to master. A lot can go wrong and when it does it happens fast. They are keys and strategies to trimming your beard so you can ensure success. In this how to video I go over the rules to live by and actually do an on screen trimming of my beard. I will be doing a later video on trimming my mustache(moustache). I display the 2 main methods used which are using clippers and using scissors.

Here are a few rules that I live by:
1. When I decide to trim my beard I wait one week to actually do it. During that time I assess what I would like to do and study my beard to make sure that I actually want to trim it.
2. I create beard goals for the trim in regards to what is going to be cut and what will not be touched. This insures the safety of the beard.

Once the waiting period is over I then proceed to trim which carries a few rules as well.
1. Never trim your beard under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
2. Never trim your beard when you are depressed or tired.
3. Put aside enough time to trim so you do not feel rushed.
4. Never trim a wet beard. Always allow your beard to fully dry before cutting or trimming it.

Always remember, when in doubt grow it out. You should always stop trimming when you reach the point you question if you should continue. That will always mean that you are done. It is extremely easy to get carried away and trim every aspect of your beard. It's very dangerous to do so and you run the risk of taking too much off. It's always better to walk away with your beard intact rather then getting frustrated and potentially losing your beard.
