This is a basic tutorial of how to repair water damage on any mobile/media device.

In this video I am cleaning corrosion from different areas of an iPhone 4 including the logicboard and cable connectors, digitizer and LCD flex cables, camera flex cables, removing liquid from underneath the LCD screen (disassembly of LCD required - see video of how to do this - I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS), and other areas of the phone.

This particular iPhone 4 was put through the washer and did not work at all before this repair was done.

Items used for this repair:

-Pentalope screw driver
-micro philips screw driver
-flathead screw driver
-electric toothbrush
-basic rubbing alcohol
-750-1000 degree heatgun

After repair you will want to allow a minimum of at least 2-3 days for the parts to completely dry. After that period you may reasemble your device and hopefully your phone will work like normal again.

***WATER DAMAGE REPAIR IS NEVER GUARANTEED TO WORK***

Liquid damage can be minimal or it can be very bad, the amount of time and type of liquid the damaged the phone are key things that can usually estimate the time frame and likelihood of your chances of repairing your phone after liquid damage has occurred.

***PUTTING YOUR DEVICE IN RICE DOES NOT WORK AT ALL***

The "put your phone in rice" myth is completely fake, all rice will do is suspend your device and whatever liquid drips out will be absorbed, but it will not clean your phone nor will it suck out any liquid at all. Corrosion will still build up inside your phone and parts of your logicboard and other components will continue to deteriorate which will eventually render your device completely useless.

Hope this video helps
