On Saturday, July 21, 2012, officers from the LVMPD Southeast Area Command joined forces with community members and faith-based organizations in a prayer walk to kick off the "Operation of Hope" Initiative. This initiative, founded by SEAC Officers, is aimed at reducing violence and criminal activity within the neighborhood surrounding the intersection of Mountain Vista Street and Karen Avenue. This area is one of most active within the Southeast Area Command, and has an increasing crime rate. The Operation of Hope Initiative is aimed at reducing criminal activity and increasing the overall feeling of safety and security within the neighborhood. Jon Ponder and "Hope for Prisoners", a faith based re-entry program, is coordinating the prayer walk to support the LVMPD initiative.
