A working repleca of George Stephensons 1825 (0-4-0) "Locomotion No 1" at Beamish North of England Open Air Museum.
Locomotion worked regular on the Stockton & Darlington between 1825 and 1846. After a spell on the Redcar line it was then used to pump water from a west Durham colliery between 1850 and 1857. The Pease family presented the original engine to the Stockton and Darlington Railway for preservation.
