This past June, Jordan and Katelynn Mentz contacted Senator Donnelly’s office requesting assistance in working with the Social Security Administration (SSA) to receive disability benefits they were owed. After the couple married, errors were made regarding the proper benefit amount they should have been receiving. The Mentz’s struggled to resolve these issues for more than two years, so they contacted Donnelly’s office for assistance. Through several contacts with the SSA, Donnelly’s office was able to help the couple restore their benefits to the correct amount, in addition to assisting in their receipt of back-pay from benefits due in the amount of over $20,000. With this money, the couple was able to purchase a new handicapped accessible van for Katelynn’s use earlier this month.
