~~ Equipped with only a GoPro and the natural light of the sun, my good friend, Matt Bendure, and I scoured across the deserts of southern Utah and California for a week in September. Chasing every sunrise and sunset we could find, our hopes were of capturing even a glimpse into the essence of the beautiful landscapes that surrounded us. We spent time outside Moab, Zion, Monroe, Death Valley, and Joshua Tree sprinting across the desert terrain, scaling hills and boulders, taking full advantage of the small windows of time we had to work with. What came out of it was a series of silhouetted portraits that seemed to embody the vision of this song perfectly and propel it back into the wilderness where it belongs. Written in the desert, it has now been brought full circle. This song carries with it our own willingness to get in touch with that deep rooted power of our true connection with nature and its ability to carry us forward into new light, new possibility, and new life all with the familiar feeling of coming home; letting go of old thoughts and habits to allow that which dwells in the core of our being and depths of our soul to come alive and be released from our fear of the unknown. This whole past year has been immensely powerful in allowing me to continue navigating this path of uncertainty through all the curveballs of doubt, worry, and sadness, especially with all that’s going on in the world. It’s easy at times to feel helpless, but I just feel grateful for all the people who have been brought into my life, shown me love, and have encouraged me on this journey thus far.
I find myself constantly contemplating what I can do to help the world and if I am doing enough, and it always brings me back to a quote I’ve held dear for some time by Mr. Howard Thurman, “Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” There are people in the streets fighting for what they believe in, people on the streets struggling to stay alive, people fleeing their homes in fear, the list goes on.. I don’t have a lot of money to give, nor a house, but I have hope and light and love and a lot of it that I can’t help but strive to continue to pour through my music and channel this energy in the most positive way I know how. This is what this song gives me; what my music gives me, a chance to come alive and share that aliveness with you. We are but beating hearts and breathing lungs yearning to be free. I hope you all find what makes you come alive and share it with the world. It needs it now more than ever.

With all the love in the world,
